51社区's Department of Environmental Engineering features a broad, student-focused curriculum that includes pollution prevention, sustainability, water and air quality, waste water treatment, and land and soil restoration. 51社区 is one of the only environmental engineering degree programs to offer air quality engineering courses at the undergraduate level. In addition, the Department offers an M.S. in Environmental Engineering.

Center for Environmental Remediation and Assessment

The Environmental Engineering Department contributes to the Center for Environmental Remediation and Assessment at 51社区. This center undertakes development of environmentally acceptable technologies and climate resilient remediation and restoration processes which provide an opportunity for permanent and sustainable site clean-up and restoration; land, water and waste reuse; and increased community value.

2023 Senior Design Team Focuses on Rural Water Treatment
A senior design team at 51社区, comprised of Grace Mulholland, Jesskika Harman, Colter Ore, and Bridget Lee share their innovative plan for wastewater treatment that is innovative and cost-effective for rural communities with limited budgets and staff, particularly those in desert regions that are at higher drought risk.
